Step 1: Create a Business Portfolio (Formerly Business Manager)

Facebook Business Portfolio is a tool in which you can manage all of your business assets, including pages, ad accounts, Instagram accounts, and Meta Pixels in one place. If you have no Facebook business portfolio, you will not be able to create and connect Meta Pixels on your website.

How to create Facebook Business Portfolio?

Step 2: Open the events manager and connect your Data Sources

From your Meta Business Suite’s dashboard, click all tools and open Facebook Events Manager. There you’ll see a dashboard having four options. Among these options, click on Connect Data Sources as shown below in the image:

Data Sources are the locations that fire events to your Meta Pixels. It could be a WordPress website Pixel, a Shopify store, or an application. When you connect the Meta Pixel with your WordPress website, it becomes easier for you to track all your website visitors.

Step 3: Connect Data Stream

A data stream refers to a source that enables you to collect data from your Facebook campaigns.

There are five types of Data Streams: Web, APP, Offline, CRM, and Messaging. If you’re connecting it through your WordPress website, you will need to select Web stream. Then, in the right corner at the bottom, click the “Next” button.

Step 4: Name Your Meta Pixels

Step 6: Select The Installation Option

Meta gives you two types of installation options. Conversion API and Meta Pixels only. Click on the Meta Pixel only option.

Step 7: Select The Installation Method

In the Facebook Pixel installation, Meta provides two types of installations. Install Code Manually and Partner Integration. Select Install Code Manually, because it is considered the easiest method.

When you click on the partner integration button, it will take you to a window where partner integration will be shown. If you want to install the Facebook Pixel through a partner, you will need to select WordPress. But, for installation with WordPress, through partner integration, you’ll need to install some plugins.

That’s why we use manual installation to avoid installing any extra plugins. So, for this, skip the partner integration and select the manual integration process.

Step 8: Base Code Installation

After selecting “Manual Integration”, Meta will give you a base code to install on the website.

After getting the base code, simply go to your WordPress website admin panel and select the “Theme File Editor” option in the Appearance section.

Then find the header.php file and paste the code somewhere between the <head></head> section. The click update.

Step 9: Verify Installation

After installing the code in your website, now go to the Facebook Business Manager from where you left and then click on the “Verify” button. Congratulation! You have installed the Meta Pixel on your website.
